What to do if your caravan or motorhome is stolen

If the unfortunate happens to you and your pride and joy is stolen, we suggest you follow the guideline below:

• Immediately contact your local police force and inform them of the theft and gain a crime number (required for insurance). Make sure you have all your documentation relating to the van to hand,
• Contact your insurance company to advise of the loss,
• If you have a tracker fitted, contact the tracking company to activate the tracking system,
• Contact your local media and advise of the theft,
• Contact us to include your loss details on this website.

We have put together a list of caravans and motorhomes that have been reported as stolen to us. If you have had a caravan or motorhome stolen and would like to advise others of the details please send us your information. Please include full details of the make / manufacturer, age, colour, CRIS / Reg number, VIN number, where stolen from, date stolen etc etc and any other information which would help identify it. We will then add it to the list, and contact you for photos if you have them.

Bailey Senetor Louisian Stolen from storage at tythby grange farm, Bingham, Nottinghamshire on 26th/27th August 2010 Twin wheel base. 2007. Excellent condition. 1998 Avondale Pennine SE 5 berth Tourer was stolen from our home in Lisburn Co. Down on Friday 30/7/2010. It was fully packed for going on holiday and had a wheel clamp fitted and was behind a heavy gate. The bunk is missing as it is in my garage, it has a few small dents on either side and wood trim is missing from below cupboards on one side. The shower room sink has been cracked and repaired. Abi Award Northstar 1999 Twin Axle caravan was seen being towed away from our home in Co Armagh on 7 June 2010 It was taken by a silver jeep with a woman red haired passenger. The caravan is mostly white with blue sill. Small dent beneath window on driver side. Identification No: SG77AWAABW 0236507
Mercedes 207d Autotrail Cherokee stolen from SE5 8DL on the early hours of 04/06/2010 The registration is B704 GAU. It has a White cab with a yellow and red bonnet. The campervan with sleeper over the cab is beige / White with grey / silver and black horizontal stripes

Coachman amara 530/4 berth 2002 Stolen FROM our drive on 13th April 2010 at around 1pm in Rotherham, South Yorkshire White with maroon writing single axel, fully equipped with brand new awning and all equipment needed for a camping holiday. It was taken by a silver pickup with 2 males in it. Well loved. Vin number SG4S000CM20215645. Distinctive marks are a crack on right hand side on front bottom panel and has a picture of a sun scene sticker on the side where hook up is

Rapido Record-matic Stolen from driveaway in Walthamstow, London. Overnight 19/20th March 2010 Folding caravan - white with green fitted trailer cover. In good condition for age but may have been stolen for scrap. Has all original features but new curtains (dark red) and the cushion covers have been removed for washing. When open, the caravan has a large picture window at each end unlike some other Rapidos. It also has a cat flap in the panel under the sink area and French tourist badges on one of the windows.
Swift Royale 590 Special Edition stolen from driveway in Sandbach, Cheshire on 17th March 2010 between 9.30 and 13.00 R602 AMA vin no ZFA23000005405552 2.5 ducato turbo PAS, around 42000 miles. Panasonic (I think) radio/cd player. Large crack in windscreen bottom offside just out of swept area. Fiamma roof box. Fiamma 3 Bike carrier. Fiamma awning rear roof ladder and roof top rails. Green oven and sink. Wash basin tap replaced with chrome monobloc shower mixer. A couple of the high level cupboards have been modified with extra shelves, and the two forward facing high level crockery cupboards have an added security rail to stop them opening under breaking. There are also extra stowages above the rear entry door, and below the towel locker in the shower. The waste discharge has been modified to have a brass quick release extension coupled on to it.
Bailey Pageant Series 6 Bordeaux (August 2007) Stolen from our driveway in Cuffley, Hertfordshire on 11th March 2010 between approximately 1 and 2 o'clock in the afternoon The VIN No. is SGBSJ05BY70702216. Would probably have been taken along the A10, A100, A1 or M25. The caravan was fitted with an Alko Hitchlock and a Bulldog Alko wheelclamp which were also taken. Description: Colour: Magnolia. Single axle. Sleeps 4 with fixed bed. Fully fitted fridge/freezer, microwave, etc. Other features: the caravan was fully packed - food, clothes, toiletries, kettle, toaster, iron, television, hair dryer and hair striaghteners,two water hogs, two gas cannisters, toys,lamps, torches, Quest Panorama XL grey porch awning, Sunncamp Ultima 390 wine awning, Eurohike tent, childs tent, 2 tables, 8 chairs, etc. The caravan contained everything that we have collected over 19 years of caravanning. Distinguishing marks: Iron burn mark in lino on floor in front of the oven.
Avondale Dart 630/6 2009 twin axle in ivory stolen from Ullenhall near Henley-in-Arden, West Midlands on Fri 5th March 2010 Vin no. SGAT000AV90001070. Wheel clamp and hitch lock was removed by thieves, near side rear wheel would have been damaged. Awning and personal belongings were inside as it was in use.
1968 VW Campervan stolen from a garage in Ossett, West Yorkshire in early March It was loaded onto the back of a flatbed truck on Wakefield Road, Flushdyke and driven away. This took place between 10pm Thursday 4th March and 1.30am Friday 5th March. It is a 1968 Westfalia Pop-top Campervan in cream. Reg; EUG 414F.

Dethleff Camper DL540 Stolen from a Storage Park in Crewe Cheshire Chassis No. WDT1EN3BF70004678 Serial No. 07494002. As new bought June 2009 so very unhappy at present. There was a full awning also blue in colour, plus many additional items inside.

Sterling Eccles Sapphire 2007 stolen from a drive in Ormksirk Lancashire on 20th November 2009 This was a day time theft and seen in the area just prior was a Omega vehicle in tandem with a VW Passat. Classic Cooper Coachworks Caravan Stolen July 2009 This is a member of the Car Cruiser make of caravans made in 1976. The van has Cooper Coachworks sign on the front and back of the van. It also has 2 round roof lights. It contained all its camping equipment including information about the Car Cruiser Owners Club.
Bailey Ranger 5 stolen on 6th november from a stoarge yard in blackburn Magnolia, twin axel, blue details on sides and rear with a 4inch red badge on the rear over the number plate with yellow letters saying jbs scaffolding and contact numbers VIN: SGBTG07BY70705004 £1000.00 reward for details which lead to recovery.
Bailey Pageant Bretagne Series5 (2005) Stolen 26.10.09 at 9.30pm from driveway in Fishburn Co. Durham Seen by a neighbour were two guys in a silver Vauxhall Vectra. It is magnolia in colour with a blue and marroon stripe. There are four sticker markers around the window on the door as if someone has had it covered with something, we have been unable to take off these marks when we bought it. Has a small dent near diner window where awning pole came down on it.
Coachman VIP 530/4 (2006) stolen from driveway in Berkshire on 23/10/09 between 10.40am & 13.15 ALKO Hitch lock & wheel clamp removed, alarm ripped out and tracker disabled, so must have sustained damage. Lovely condition & had cream/blue awning inside along with usual things - bedding, towels etc. Quite unusual as had an outside shower in small locker on front right. Also had motor mover. 1985 4 berth Dandy stolen from our driveway in the Penrith area, between 8.30am and 11.00am on 1st Oct 2009 It has a canvas Lichfield Awning which has Dandy 4/5 on the front of it it. Also had 3 windbreaks which are green with see through panel at top and of course all the usual inside: toilet, chairs, fridge, bedding, etc. The back of the cover has dandy written on it and also at the back we have silver taped a square plate which was on when we got it, can't remember the wording but had the word Physco in it hence the tape.

Full of clothing, food (mostly european), tv, satelite, etc. Inside also was a distinctive 3 month old Orange, Ocean Kayak Mysto, pale blue paddle Carlisle and my daughters favorite toy a plastic bouyancy swimming aid, a blue dolphin with handles, 300mm in size.

This van was fully spec'd with 2 flat screen tv's, 2 aqua rolls, full awning and brand new summer awning, also roll out sun porch. Top of the range Cadac and 2 expensive blue relaxers.

2003 Bailey Discovery 400 stolen from St Helens in Merseyside between 15th and 23rd August 2009. Vin no. sgbsa04by30303563. The van was in very good condition other than the odd awning pole mark. It has a harrigtons sticker underneath the bailey badge on the rear of the van. It also has a bit of black tape over the hole where the front locker stay goes. The van was loaded with everything as we had just come back from holiday. It was secured with a hitchlock and wheel lock and stored on a farm amongst other caravans.

Maggiolina Roof Tent which was stolen along with a Land Rover E724NSE from Sheffield on 14/08/09. The tent is a Safari model which sits on top of a vehicle much like a roof box. It is cream / white when closed and has sand coloured sides when open.

Bailey Senator Arizona stolen from forest hill 01.08.09 between 17.00 & 22.00 Cream in colour, damage to door from previous break in, bottom hinge broken. nearside rear beading filled with mastic. Curtains in green with light floral pattern seating and brown carpet. Green sunstor awning with green check curtains, no front rail to hold awning in place. No CRiS number as all paperwork was in van. Offside rear upper marker light missing on side. This van had, hitchlock, intruder alarm and wheel clamp. It may have been lifted onto a flatbed and driven away, as the locks were not left behind. They will need new keys for all locks, so will need to visit a caravan store.

SILVER Dethleffs Rally Nomad 640 stolen on Tuesday 23rd June from Orrell, Wigan. The caravan was silver. Vin Number is WDT2DC3BN70000050. It had a slight damage to the back quarter were it was backed into a wall - has been fixed but you can still tell it is damaged.
Hobby Prestige 560 UK Stolen on the 27/06/09 at about 14:00 from a farm at Haigh near Barnsley, South Yorkshire. Both rear light clusters and rear bumpers are missing. Lunar Solaris 1 2006 stolen from secure cassoa compound Barnsley, South Yorkshire on 18.6.09 between 8-10pm It appears they used a truck of some description to break through 2 sets of security gates. There is a slight mark on the table top and studs over the door side wheel arch for a tidy. The front drivers side window has some marks on it near the back middle. It contained compactalite plus awning in blue with some marks near the rear door zip. 2 off Trinidad folding loungers. Plus usual caravan aquarolls etc.
Swift Archway, stolen on 11.06.09 from the North East of England Fixed bed model, has a motor mover fitted but remote is missing, a stain next to the sink inside the van where a repair has beeen carried out, also a visable colour change on side of van next to window. The CRIS registration ddocuments were inside the van so they will probably be offered with the sale

Conway Cruiser was stolen from near Selby in North Yorkshire in early May It is a 2001 model which is the green/cream colourway. The serial number is 01A07088. It has a broken rear passenger side light fitting although the lights work. Otherwise good condition.
Hobby Prestige 2004 model, stolen from Haggerston Castle Caravan Park, Berwick upon Tweed between 14th - 20th April 2009 Caravan is white with blue stripe. Taken without any explanation or cctv footage it just vanished. The window was cracked and taped with very noticable thick black tape, also the two interior taps were snapped and taped. Many features have been changed, the seats were re-covered (brown & cream candy stripe), dark flooring and brown carpets. Also the bed frame also had been changed.
Swift Gazelle F59 High coach built motorhome stolen from the driveway of house in Kemsing, Sevenoaks, Kent and occurred between 8pm and 10pm on Wednesday 29th April, 2009 It is white in colour with a Fiamma cycle rack on the rear. Rapido Orline 39S Folding Caravan 1988 model stolen fron Fiddlers Ferry Caravan Storage Penketh Warrington WA5 2UL sometime in the early part of 2009. Colour beige with orange stripes, large red RAPIDO decal on the o/s rear top edge. The gas carrier on the front has a distinctive dip in the top middle that collects rain water. The brown awning groove n/s bottom rear is badly scratched to reveal the silver aluminium. A distinctive and unusual folder in very good condition. VIN No. VFWCEP13988C19011.

Bailey Pageant Loire Cd was stolen from a caravan storage place in Maerdy Rhondda Cynon, Taff at 19.52 on sunday 15-02-2009 It was then seen being taken over Maerdy mountain into aberdare by a white tipper van. Serial number SGBSP36BYR9400419	!!RECOVERED!!
Lunar Quasar 566, Stolen From a storage compound, North baddesley nr Romsey in Hampshire between the 8-14 Febuary 2009 Our Lunar Quasar 566/6 Berth white with green stripes VIN number, (SGLS000LU51002670), single axle caravan. It was last seen at the lock up on the 8/2/09 and upon checking on 14/02/09 it was gone. The caravan was fully loaded with all contents inside including: awning, tv, dvd, a new cd player, cd car radio, microwave and all tinned food ready to go. This caravan was a well treasured caravan and is a great loss. Both clamps were completely twisted and ripped off. There is a dent under window on the n/s, door side middle window. There may be damage to the wheel arch due to the clamp being forced off and may be damage to the hitch point as bolt croppers and a bar were used to remove it.

VW camper stolen from Farnworth. Reg SFL 191K between 4.15pm and 5pm (approx) on Monday 27th October. The camper was seen by neighbours being loaded onto a blue recovery truck (with 'fancy' writing on the side). Its a T2 bay in orange and white. The orange is more of a mustard colour. It was imported from spain before she got it and as such is a left hand drive. It has a Westfalia interior and a pop top roof. It pretty tatty and some of the white bits like the bumpers have been hand painted. It also has some sticker left in the windows from a garage in Tormilinos if I remember corectly.

1974, cream with beige stripe caravan stolen from outside our house in Headley Down in Hampshire on 6th march 2008 at 5.00 am It was taken away by a large 4x4 pick-up (make, colour and reg. unsure) and was dragged down the road for a while with the caravan brakes still on, which will no doubt have resulted in some large flat spots to the tyres. The caravan was handbuilt inside and out by my father and grandfather between 1974 and 1976 and has been used for family holidays ever since. Although a lot of caravans are stolen every year, this caravan has 34 years of sentimental attachement which is worth far more than the caravan itself.

FLEETWOOD SONATA PRELUDE Stolen May 2007 from Blaina, South Wales CHASIS No. ZYISA53FA6UK01094  It was stolen despite being locked and all security equipment being in place in May 2007 from behind our friends house in a town called Blaina South Wales. Inside the caravan were our possessions: kids bikes, 2 digital cameras, photo's of my wife and kids at our renewal of our wedding vows (which cannot be replaced as memory card was in camera) T.V, DVD player, freeview box, bike rack, loads of clothes including a new design asda uniform where i worked. There was a awning and groundsheet also. All the caravan documents was inside the caravan except the registration document. The registration on the caravan was BJ51 UGN On the rear drivers side of the caravan had been bumped and was just sealed up on a temporary fix and on the driver side of the caravan there was some scratches from the trees and on the passenger side where the door is there are several scratches from the awning poles. Also inside the caravan the worktop by the sink and the main dining table had a dent in it. Swift Challenger 490SE (1993). Stolen from a "secure" compound just outside Stafford at the junction of the A51 and A518. This was our first caravan bought locally and was being stored at the same site it had been stored at for many years by it's previous owner! My wife and children are truly mortified that when I went to collect it at 6pm tonight (1st August 2007) for a long awaited holiday, we found it had been stolen from the compound. I am lead to believe it has been stolen within the last 7 days!! Distinguishing features are few from other models of the same type, but it does have an additional external 240V socket fitted on the same side as the door and also has a wheel trim missing. Inside was an almost new Awning by NR Awnings, and all fittings ready for use. The colouring on the bottom edge of the van has slight smudging due to someone trying to clean with some kind of thinners in places, but other than that, there are few other things to identify it! Interior was a faded burgundy colour but in very good overall condition. CRIS Registration number is SGD5093SWP0047415 but unfortunately we do not have the chasis number. Compass Rallye 534 2002 stolen from our drive in Hassocks West Sussex on Wednesday 11th July 2007 VIN SGES000EX2RAF0037 The caravan was locked and wheel clamped and fully loaded with everything to go away. Light damage to offside front where it ran forward into post and broken nearside plastic wheel arch, the inside of the door is scuffed and there is a long vehicle sticker on the back which has been there for a couple of years so should leave quite a mark if removed. The upholstery is green/cream and slightly faded from the roof light.We have pictures of inside and out. Lunar Rendezvous 2004, twin axle, stolen from Sutton Scotney Southbound Services (A34 Winchester) off the back of our car whilst we ate in the restaurant on 22nd June 2007. End bed caravan model. En-route to the Isle of Wight for a 2 week holiday, the caravan had many sentimental items from a recent holiday including precious photos. Has a cycle rack (with bikes) on the back, if this has now been removed, there will be distinguishing holes left. The outer door catch has been heavily glued and is easily recognisable, the interior work surfaces have two large dents, one next to the sink, one under the drinks cabinet. There are large marks where the keys have damaged the outside when opening the door. If anyone does recognise this, please help, we just want our personal belongings back

Elddis Oddesy 482 2004 - stolen in broad daylight from it`s storage address in Standish, nr Wigan Stolen on 27th March 07, between 1345hrs and 1630hrs. It is white in as new condition and was full of our equipement ready for the off the day after. It has chrome 5 spoke wheels. The only distinguishing mark is a mark where a dealers sticker had been on the front nearside pillar. Fiat Ducato 2.5 Diesel. Foster & Day Conversion - Stolen from compound in Northwich, Cheshire Stolen between Thursday 15th March pm and Saturday 17th March at approx 08.30. Quite distinctive, I've only had her a year but never seen another one! Has Foster & Day on the Front, "The Bees Knees" on the back and a wheelchair carrier fitted to lower left at rear of vehicle. There is also a black "mastic" mark on rear of roof where an aerial used to be.
